U-PICK LAVENDER DAYS

INFORMATION / FAQ

PRICE

U-Pick: $10 per bundle

You pay for U-Pick in the Barn Store on arrival.  You are given the basket and the clippers and instructed as to where you  can pick and how to cut the lavender.

Typically, the basket holds far more than $10 of fresh lavender, so this is great and economical way to enjoy the experience of harvesting your own lavender.   When you are finished filling your basket return to the store with your basket and clippers, one of the staff will  take them from you and wrap your bundle of lavender for you.

A staff member will point you to the  areas where guest can cut their own and will be available to help you cut to ensure maximum health for our lavender and your bouquet.

DATES

The Lavender is in bloom from mid-to-end of July. U-Pick will begin earlier this year due to weather,  Starting June 28th (approximate dates, weather dependent) check facebook and main page for actual dates available.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

Harvesting a bundle of lavender doesn't take long at all.  However, we recommend strolling around the finding your favorite stems.

WHAT TO BRING

It can get hot harvesting in the sun! We recommend a hat, sunscreen, bug spray & water! You can purchase drinks, ice cream, & popsicles in the store.   We do not allow food on the farm but you can order a picnic pass or a pre booked picnic and make a fun afternoon out of it!  Wear comfortable footwear appropriate for walking through grass and gravel on uneven ground here on the farm.

HOW TO CUT LAVENDER

To cut, hold the stem and cut no less than 2" above the woody part. Cutting too low down will permanently harm the plant. Bundle your handful of lavender with elastic bands to keep them tidy.

FRESH CUT LAVENDER AFTERCARE

If you plan to keep your freshly cut lavender in water, be sure to trim the ends when you get home and change the water daily - the lavender should last for about a week.

DRYING LAVENDER

If you plan to dry your lavender, keep it in the water for no more than 3 days.Trim the ends, and separate your bunch into smaller bundles no larger than 2". Secure the ends with an elastic band and hang it upside down in a dry, dim, space for 2-4 weeks

A fully dry stem should snap easily - not bend - when you break it
