Orange Caipirinha with Biquinho Peppers

This citrusy spin on Brazil’s national drink brings a fresh and vibrant twist to the classic cachaça-based cocktail 🍊
After visiting our farm and spotting the little biquinho peppers growing in our pepper garden, one of our customers shared this delicious recipe with us. Since then, many of you who have purchased the plants have been asking how to use them—so we’re happy to pass this recipe along 💜
Bright, refreshing, and just a little bit unique, it’s a beautiful way to enjoy your harvest.
🍸 Ingredients
- 2 oz Leblon Cachaça
(substitute: white rum, vodka, or tequila) - 1 oz orange juice
- ¼ lime, cut into wedges
- ¼ orange, cut into wedges
- 6 fresh yellow biquinho peppers
- 2–4 Tbsp granulated white sugar
(or try lavender-infused sugar for a gentle floral note) - Sprite (lemon-lime soda)
- Ice
🌿 Instructions
- In a glass or shaker, add:
- sugar
- 2 biquinho peppers (cut in half)
- lime wedges
- orange wedges
- Using a muddler or the end of a wooden spoon, gently crush the mixture to release the juices and combine the flavours.
- Add the orange juice and stir well.
- Fill an old-fashioned glass with ice.
- Add the cachaça to the juice mixture, then top with Sprite.
💡 Optional: Strain the mixture before pouring for a smoother drink.
✨ Garnish
- Orange slice
- Fresh mint
- 2–3 whole Biquinho peppers
- Optional: a lavender stem for a subtle Purple Haven touch
